CONVENTIONAL SKIING WISDOMS (CSW's)
by Bill Jones, Ski Instructor
Certified Professional Ski Instructor (Registration #110478)
CSW #4:
"Lean."
But I thought we wanted to ski in balance. Does the word "lean" connote we
are out of balance? Does the word "lean" connote an angle from vertical? In
skiing, when we position ourselves to balance against forces, we will likely be
balanced when we are tipped away from vertical. Semantically, the word "lean" is
misleading in skiing. Perhaps it is a bit picky to insist on this distinction,
but if it helps our skiing, then we should be picky.
